Everybody should be excited about this.

Being the thorough Account Executive that I am, I have Google Alerts set for all my clients. So if they’re ever in the news, I’m immediately in the know. Imagine my surprise when my email inbox exploded Tuesday with alerts from news sources like Bloomberg, TopNews United States, InformationWeek, HealthLeaders Media, Insurance Media, Government Health IT, BusinessWeek, National Journal, CNN Political Ticker, and the list goes on. And then to see words like White House, Vice President Biden, Beacon, grants, $220 million, and healthcare popping up all over the place, I really started to get excited.

After clicking on the first of many, I learned that our client HEALTHeLINK was awarded a $16.1 million grant for its national electronic health records initiative by the Obama Administration’s Beacon Community Program. And to be one of only 15 communities across the United States to receive this honor – holy cow – how cool is that? The hope is that the grant money will allow HEALTHeLINK to move forward with many of their planned initiatives, one of which includes getting 60,000 local diabetics fully integrated into the electronic medical records network.

Pretty cool stuff, if you ask me.
