Fashion mad.
Advertising folk have always been a stylish crowd. And film and television love to showcase this element. Take, for example, Larry Tate’s debonair silver coiffure, Kip/Buffy Wilson’s commanding shoulder-padded dresses, and Emory Leeson’s extremely form-fitting jacket.
But the daddy of all shows featuring the sartorial choices of advertising people is Mad Men. Beginning this August, you, too, can dress like Don Draper and Joan Harris (ladies, I’d avoid the “Peggy” look) when Banana Republic releases it’s line of Mad Men-inspired suits, dresses, hats, ties, skirts, and more.
This article in The New York Times describes the union. The Banana Republic unit of Gap Inc. will team up with Mad Men for this joint-effort marketing promotion. This “capsule collection” will carry co-branded labels bearing the logos of “Mad Men” and Banana Republic. The merchandise will be sold in Banana Republic stores and online.
Now that it’s so easy to look like a cool cat (or kitten) I expect everyone in my office to be fully decked out in primo style.
