I love Franklin Gothic.
There’s a great article in the latest issue of Communication Arts about fonts, and which ones are favored by famous designers. There seems to be two schools of thought. Those who love the classics — Helvetica, Garamond, Bodoni — and those who look for the latest and greatest.
I’m firmly in the first camp. I always tell my son, who is studying design at Ohio State, to resist choosing an “interesting” font. Rather, choose a classic font and do something interesting with it.
I fell in love with Franklin Gothic while studying design at Syracuse University, and although I have flirted with others over the years, I always come back to my old flame.
