It’s just a coincidence. No, really.
It’s true, Crowley Webb won a Global again this year. And yes, it’s also true that I judged the competition.
Not so fast.
The Globals – healthcare marketing’s most meaningful achievement – of course maintains the highest standards when it comes to judging. That means no one scores their own work. But it’s not like that should surprise anyone – it is the Globals we’re talking about.
And while I’m thrilled about this year’s honor, here’s what’s got me really excited. Crowley Webb has now been recognized 9 out of the last 10 years. So I guess we can say with some accuracy, if not humbleness, that we’re pretty darn good at this whole advertising thing.
It was cool to be asked, but I found the whole experience a bit surprising. I mean, passing swift judgment is second nature in this job. But this time around, I found myself slowing down, really thinking about the particulars. It was like I was, dare I say it, a client. I asked myself, would I approve it? Would I pay for it? Would it work? I’ve got to say, it was kind of refreshing to think about things that way. Well, at least for a minute anyway.
Alright, now back to reality. Where’s my scepter?
