Putting the “fun” in funeral.
Though February is the shortest month of the year, in the Queen City of the Great Lakes it often feels like the longest. But we Buffalonians are a resourceful people and have our ways of passing long, cold winter evenings, like huddling together indoors and drinking beer. And when that activity also helps one of our beloved city’s grandest cultural treasures, well, then everyone wins.
On Friday, February 11, we’re going to The Wake, a party to benefit Irish Classical Theatre Company. It’s an annual event that Crowley Webb helped our friends at ICTC conceive eight years ago and, as the name indicates, it takes the form of a raucous Irish wake. This year, we will mourn the passing of our fictitious friend Les Mooney and comfort ourselves with live music, food, beer, wine, raffles, beer, prizes, wine, and beer.
In addition to being a great party for a great cause, The Wake is also a great creative opportunity. This year we came up with a promotional campaign featuring a (hopefully) iconic skull image and a website that takes visitors to hell and back.
So join us at The Wake next Friday night. Losing an imaginary pal is difficult, and we really don’t want to be alone right now.
