The hardest working Super Bowl spot (in our humble opinion).
Unless you were asleep under a rock several light years from Earth, you are well aware the Super Bowl erupted in America last night. And with it came the usual suspects; football-shaped meatloaves, nachos, office pools, and, of course, highly anticipated ads. And there were few strangers here. Pepsi, Coke, Budweiser – they all showed up in very familiar fashion. But one spot in particular caught our attention – Chrysler’s Halftime in America. Why? Well, for starters, it silenced 97% of Super Bowl parties for a full two minutes. Perhaps more impressive, they had their own tough act to follow. Last year, Chrysler created a buzz with their gritty love letter to Detroit, starring Eminem. They certainly wanted to up the ante without being redundant. Enter Clint Eastwood. Weaving a gritty love letter to America. That pretty much meant game over at the half. This spot was a rallying cry for all of us. Upon viewing, who didn’t want to buy a Jeep and then drive it into a boxing ring? Out of all the Super Bowl clutter – from Doritos-sponsored murderous dogs, to garbage plates served up cold by Go Daddy – this spot emerged victorious. And you’re damn right it earned this year’s Crowley Webb Hardest Working Super Bowl Spot Award™.
