The circus. Science. Murder mysteries. Meat. Meat? Yes, meat. Look it up. When it comes to our local award show themes – like advertising in general – it’s all been done.
So this year, we’re having a skewed look back at past themes for our award show that celebrates the work that doesn’t do what’s already been done before. The work that is standout, fresh, and forward. The work that is all about the new. The work that challenges. The work that questions.
Beyond dreaming up the theme, it was our job to design hero creative for the show and supporting assets. We saw this as an opportunity to blend the new and the old – just as one does to create an original idea. We scanned in artwork from past award showbooks and turned them into new pieces of 3D creative.
We then unveiled the theme to the WNY community at a holiday bowling event, complete with some beloved characters from the past.
