40 years of Crowley Webb: Looking back and raising a glass.

Forty years ago in the twilight of their careers, Joe Crowley and John Webb stood in a phone booth on Chippewa Street in downtown Buffalo with a big idea, a lot of grit, and a vision for what a great agency could be. Today, while the technology we use, the media we touch, and the way we measure success look wildly different, the heart of Crowley Webb hasn’t changed a bit.

Twenty-three years ago, I walked through these doors as a wide-eyed, enthusiastic, and eager young account person at the absolute dawn of my career. Starting on day one with a startup client, Praxis (now our patient recruitment division), I am incredibly humbled when I reflect on how much I have personally grown and learned over the years, especially since I don’t feel a single day over 30! Crowley Webb gave me the chance to learn, grow, take risks, and lead, and I will be forever grateful to the people who believed in me.

Reaching a 40-year milestone is a rare, beautiful thing in our industry. Looking back, I am filled with overwhelming gratitude for the incredible work we’ve created, the clients who have trusted us with their brands, and the partners who have helped us along the way. But most of all, I’m thankful for the extraordinary people – past and present – who have walked through our doors and made this place feel like home.

Through every campaign, pitch, late night, and victory, we’ve stayed grounded because of our core values: hard work, compassion, authenticity, craftsmanship, hard play, and curiosity. We’ve worked incredibly hard, but we’ve also had an absolute ton of fun along the way.

What makes me proudest isn’t just that we’ve survived 40 years, it’s how we’ve done it. We’ve stayed true to the foundational philosophy that Joe and John set in motion so many years back.

When you don’t pull together, things fall apart.
Working together, with everyone on the same page, is still the only way we get the job done.

Fire lasts longer than fireworks.
We’ve always chosen substance over sizzle. Our decades-long client relationships are living proof that real value endures.

“No” is not a four-letter word.
We push each other, challenge ideas, and disagree to make the work stronger. We just make sure we’re never disagreeable.

It’s not how big you are, it’s how big you think.
From day one, we’ve proved that Buffalo talent can take on anything.

The more you dig, the more you dig up.
We do the work to know everything about our clients, their industries, and the challenges in front of us.

Good enough isn’t good enough.
We don’t settle. There’s always an opportunity to make the work better.

Sometimes, the greatest risk is not taking one.
Calculated chances are in our DNA. We aren’t afraid to fail because that’s where breakthroughs happen.

Sameness leads to sameness.
Our work is stronger, richer, and sharper because of the different backgrounds, experiences, and opinions our team brings to the table every day.

We have so much history to be proud of, so many memories to celebrate, and an incredible foundation to build on. To everyone who has been a part of the Crowley Webb story over the past four decades, thank you. You made this possible.

Here’s to the legacy we’ve built, the fun we’ve had, and the next 40 years of making brilliant work together. Cheers!
