Reposts are here. Yes, Instagram finally joined the party.

If you haven’t heard, Instagram just rolled out reposts, a way to share someone else’s Reels or feed posts directly to your own feed. Think of this as Instagram’s version of a retweet (because yes, Twitter paved the way, and TikTok has had reposts for a while too).

Here’s the breakdown: Unlike Stories, which disappear after 24 hours, reposted content stays on your feed. That means you can share something you love without it vanishing into the Instagram abyss. But you can only repost public Reels and feed posts, so if your bestie’s account has been private since 2012, you’re out of luck.

Reposts will be recommended to your followers and friends, and there’s a separate tab on your profile where you can see everything you’ve reposted. I recommend checking it out so you can see if you’ve accidentally reposted anything cringeworthy in the past month or two (don’t worry, we’ve all been there). You can also add a note using the little thought bubble to give your repost a personal touch.

If you’re the original creator, reposts are basically a gift from the Instagram gods. They help your content reach more people while still crediting you for all the views and engagement. Reposts are also beneficial for brands. Imagine working with an influencer on a product launch. You can now have them repost your content for extra exposure without spending another dime. Or say you’re an ad agency (Crowley Webb, hehe!) and want to showcase client work. Just hit repost, and boom! It’s on your feed for all your followers to admire. Seriously, check out our reposts tab, we’ve shared some pretty cool client work recently (not to toot our own horn).

That said, there are a few things to remember. Don’t just start reposting everything in sight. Make sure to keep your brand’s aesthetic and values in mind. Nothing confuses followers more than a random, off-brand post sneaking onto your feed. So as long as you stay true to your social goals, reposts are a powerful tool that can give your feed a real boost.

Let’s recap: Reposts can be a fun and easy way to get your content in front of more people or to share posts that align with your brand. Social media is always evolving, and this is just another way to make your profile stand out. Or, if we’re being honest, it’s the perfect tool to turn your personal feed into a collection of every hilarious Reel you’ve ever saved. Either way, it’s worth exploring.
