Hard work can be fun.
As a soon-to-be senior in college, I’ve been told only a handful (millions) of times to enjoy this summer.
“It’s the last hurrah before you enter the real world!” both my family and my friends reiterate.
After spending the past nine weeks as a media intern at Crowley Webb, the real world doesn’t look half-bad. There are fun co-workers, agency outings, company bicycles, and, during lunch hours, there’s occasional trivia. Well, at least at Crowley Webb.
With a cup of coffee in hand, each day I took on a new task. In addition to working with the media department, I learned more about the agency’s other integral departments, including digital, public relations, traffic, production, creative, account services, analytics, and Praxis.
Along with learning department overviews and tackling project assignments, I picked up some advertising lingo. Mad Men marathons have never felt so satisfying.
The hardworking individuals I’ve met throughout the course of my internship provided me with both valuable knowledge and hope. You can love what you do – I’ve seen it at Crowley Webb. I’ve even experienced it myself this summer.
I don’t believe that there is a “last hurrah” because there’s just too much to look forward to. Advertising is an exciting field. Crowley Webb is an exciting place. With accolades and incredible minds behind the work, this agency means business. Yet everyone remembers to have a great time while doing it.
